San Jose, Calif. - October 1, 2003 - Infineon Technologies (FSE/NYSE: IFX) today announced that Sun Microsystems, Inc. presented Infineon’s Memory Products Group with a Meritorious Award in recognition of outstanding performance as a supplier during fiscal year 2003.

Infineon supplies memory ICs and modules, as well as a wide range of other components, for use in numerous Sun Microsystems products. In its citation for the Meritorious Award, Sun noted that Infineon’s support helped it to “deliver second-to-none quality, innovation, value and lead times.”

“Sun Microsystems has been a 'supply chain company' from the very beginning,” said Eugene McCabe, Senior Vice President, Worldwide Operations for Sun Microsystems. “The Sun Supplier Performance Awards recognize companies that have made outstanding contributions to make Sun products and services the very best of their kind on the planet. We’d like to congratulate Infineon Technologies for its tremendous efforts this year.”

“Achieving customer satisfaction is one of the most important measures of success in the semiconductor industry, since it requires both great products and a passion for excellence and performance from every member of the business team,” said Dr. Harald Eggers, CEO of Infineon’s Memory Products Group. “This recognition by Sun Microsystems reflects the dedication and hard work of our people at production and logistics sites on three continents. We are proud to be among the world class companies able to meet Sun’s standards.”
