ICT export volume has been continuously reduced for 15 months! Semiconductor exports from South Korea decreased by 14.4% year-on-year in September


According to data released by the South Korean Ministry of Science, Technology, Information and Communication on the 16th, the export value of South Korean Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in September was 18.06 billion US dollars, a year-on-year decrease of 13.4%, and has been declining for 15 consecutive months.

Specifically, the export value of displays increased by 1%, semiconductors decreased by 14.4%, mobile phones decreased by 5.2%, computer and peripheral products decreased by 48%, and communication equipment decreased by 17.2%. Although the decline in semiconductor exports was double-digit, the amount was 9.99 billion US dollars, with system chips and storage chips reaching 4.16 billion US dollars and 5.43 billion US dollars respectively, both reaching their highest levels this year.

In terms of export regions, exports to Vietnam increased by 1.9%, while exports to China, the United States, and the European Union decreased by 22%, 18.7%, and 12.2%, respectively.

In addition, the import volume of ICT in September was 10.76 billion US dollars, a year-on-year decrease of 16.8%. According to preliminary statistics, the ICT trade balance achieved a surplus of 7.3 billion US dollars.
